The Fairy Tale Advertisement project was carried out in class using Google Apps such as Drive and Draw. They came out wonderfully, and each was a unique example of how the students had met the learning target. Above is one student's preparation sheet accompanied by the finished product, and more examples are pictured below. Originally, I instructed the students to use Google Drive because of the convenience of the sharing function; I was unaware that Google has other apps which were more suitable and user-friendly for this type of project design. But, as I was scrolling through the “shared with me” folder to make sure everyone in first period shared theirs, I noticed that one of the students did it using Google Draw. I had never heard of Google Draw, but this student had used it to incorporate easily-formattable text boxes, accents, and images. For the rest of the day, I let my next classes know that Google Draw was an awesome option to choose. The fact that this student helped me discover a better platform for the project than I had originally planned to use reminded me how thankful I am for the amount that I can learn from the students. This lesson reminded me to keep an open mind and always be on the lookout for new technological tools that can enhance activities and students' ability to express themselves and their knowledge.
