Ms. Frick's Teaching Portfolio

The Fairy Tale Advertisement Preparation Sheet and rubric are two self-designed framing materials for an advertisement poster project. Students were given the opportunity to synthesize their new knowledge of fairy tale elements and persuasive techniques in a creative manner. The project was designed to encourage application of the material and synthesis of these two enduring understandings of the unit. The preparation worksheet broke down all of the required components that were listed in the rubric, while also leaving room for a lot of imagination. It served as an important piece of scaffolding for the project and was checked before the students were allowed to move on to ensure that everyone understood the pieces and overall goals of the activity. The project was graded out of 30 points, with the most points appropriately attributed to the use of persuasive techniques in order to make the product or service stand out.
